I usually work in dark environments. Oh, and as often as humanly possible - no flash either. It sounds silly, I know, but it's an easy way to keep everything just as you remember it. Albeit a tad hard in poorly lit rooms, it's documented in the exact way it looked and felt. Always.
That's why it's so great shooting events and commercial stuff. Getting to try new ideas to make the shoot work, and retaining the way everything looked and felt like. To keep our memories, emotions and feelings as close to the real thing as possible.
